As a Graduate Assistant in UConn's Department of Digital Media & Design, the opportunity has led to collaboration throughout the university. The project stemming from Molecular and Cell Biology has amassed multiple departments as well as individuals from diverse fields. Faculty, students, and researchers specializing in statistics, computer science, and digital media/design are working towards generating the first comprehensive cell type and cell lineage map of a vertebrate embryo, which could approach the impact of Sir John Sulston’s Nobel Prize-winning lineage map of C. elegans. My work on the project involves visualizing the embryos to effectively communicate and emphasize the significance of specific cell components. Research and development is ongoing.
